About 52 baristas from six countries around Europe and Australia took part on Dalla Corte Goes Sumatra program began from 25 April until 3 May. The programme held at three places, started from Orang Utan Coffee Lab in Medan, North Sumatra, then continued to Ecolodge at Bukit Lawang and the last is coffee farm trip in Takengon, Aceh—the largest Gayo coffee farm.
On the first day, the activity started with coffee cupping and visiting Sumatra Orangutan Conservation Center at Sibolangit. The baristas divided into two groups. The first group took apart coffee cupping in the morning, while the second group visiting SOCP. Then they changed the activity.
On the coffee cupping held in Orang Utan Coffee Lab, the baristas test four type of Gayo coffee from different farms: Wih Bersih roasted by Orang Utan Coffee Lab and roasted in German. The other coffees were coffee Batin and Umang Isaq.
In coffee cupping activity, the barista explore the characteristic of the coffees and presented their own presentation. Some of them agree that Sumatra coffee has characteristic; the aroma, flavor, acidity and after taste.
After cupping, then they brewed the coffee beans with Dalla Corte machine, as published on the news, regarded as the official coffee machine for the World Latte Art Championship. The Italian made coffee machine designed with high technology which combine precision and stability in water boiler and milk frothing.
On the second days, the Dalla Corte Campus Goes Sumatra will be continued in Ecolodge, Bukit Lawang—as one of the tropical travel destination in North Sumatra. The place where the Sumatra Orang Utan habitat living.
